How to Send a Degh-e Charga to Your Family in Afghanistan
The Yar team · · 2 min read

Some moments call for more than a box of sweets. When the whole family is coming together, when there is a nazr to keep or when you simply want everyone at home to sit down to a proper meal, a degh-e charga says it best: a large pot of chicken cooked for many people at once. If you live abroad, you can still be the one who sends it.
Why a degh, and not a gift box
A degh is food meant to be shared. It feeds the household, the neighbours who drop by and the relatives who come for the occasion. For many families, a pot sent by a son or daughter abroad means more than any wrapped present, because everyone eats from it together.
How to order
Degh-e charga is not yet a ready-made product in the Yar shop, so the team arranges it for you by message. Write to Yar on WhatsApp (the number is on the help page) and tell us:
- Roughly how many people it is for
- The day and the time you want it to arrive
- The recipient's name, phone number, district and address
- The occasion, if there is one (a nazr, Eid, a homecoming, a family dinner)
- Anything to avoid, such as very spicy food
The team checks the size and the price with the kitchen and sends you a total in US dollars or euros before anything is cooked. You only pay once you have agreed.
Paying from abroad
You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, with AfPay or HesabPay, or by bank transfer or hawala arranged on WhatsApp. Card, AfPay and HesabPay payments all go through HesabPay's secure page.
Delivery
A degh is hot, heavy food, so timing matters more than for a cake or flowers. Order at least a day ahead for a gathering, and earlier for Eid or a Friday when kitchens are busy. The courier calls the recipient before arriving so someone is home to receive the pot. If Yar cannot deliver, you get a full refund.
Planning something now? Message the team on WhatsApp from the help page, or browse food packages if your family needs groceries rather than a cooked meal.
