Shopping From Local Afghan Shops Online With Yar
The Yar team · · 2 min read

For many Afghans abroad, the gifts that feel most like home come from the shops they remember: the bakery near the old house, a local sweet shop, a dry fruit seller in the bazaar. Until recently, buying from those shops from Europe or America was almost impossible unless a relative went in person. The Yar marketplace changes that.
What the Yar marketplace is
Alongside Yar's own gifts and food packages, local Afghan shops can sell their products on Yar. You can see them on the shops page, open a shop and add its products to your cart just like any other item. You pay Yar, and Yar takes care of everything in Afghanistan.
Why buy from local shops
- Your money goes to a local business in Afghanistan.
- You can send things that feel familiar and personal, not just generic gifts.
- You get the same choice your family would have if they shopped themselves.
How Yar checks shops and products
Not every shop can simply sign up and start selling. Yar approves every shop before it joins and checks every product before it goes live on the site. This does not mean nothing can ever go wrong, but it does mean someone has looked at the shop and the listing before you see it.
How ordering and delivery work
When you order from a local shop, a Yar courier picks up the item from the shop and delivers it. That means marketplace orders follow the same delivery process as everything else on Yar. The courier calls before arriving, takes a photo of the handover at the door and the recipient confirms on the courier's phone. You receive the photo by WhatsApp and email within minutes, and it stays on your order page.
Prices are shown in US dollars or euros, and the delivery fee is shown separately before you pay. You can pay by card through Stripe, by HesabPay, or by WhatsApp/transfer. If Yar cannot deliver, you get a full refund to your original payment method within 5 business days.
A few tips for shopping
- Read the product description and check sizes or weights before ordering.
- Order early for busy times like Eid, when many people send gifts at once.
- Mix items: a local shop's sweets with flowers from the main shop can make a fuller gift.
- If you have a question about a product, contact Yar support on WhatsApp between 8 AM and 10 PM Kabul time.
Start by browsing the local shops. And if you know a good shop in Afghanistan that should be on Yar, tell them about the sell on Yar page.
