Surprise Delivery Tips for Sending Gifts to Afghanistan

There are few things nicer than a knock on the door with flowers or a cake that nobody expected. A surprise delivery takes a little more planning than a normal order, though. These tips will help you keep the secret while making sure the gift actually reaches the right person.
Use the surprise option
Normally the courier calls the recipient before arriving. When you choose the surprise option, the courier still calls, but only to check that the recipient is home. The courier does not say what is coming or who sent it. This keeps the moment a surprise while avoiding a wasted trip to an empty house.
Decide whether to sign the card
You can write a personal message on the card, or choose to be an anonymous sender. Anonymous gifts can be fun for a playful surprise, for example among cousins, but for parents and grandparents a signed card is often more touching. Think about how the person will feel when they open it.
Get the details right
- Use a phone number that gets answered. If the recipient rarely picks up unknown numbers, consider giving the number of another family member who can keep the secret.
- Write the address clearly, with landmarks a local courier would recognise.
- If a family member is helping you, ask them to make sure the person is home without giving anything away.
Choose the right timing
In Kabul, orders placed before 2 PM Kabul time can arrive the same day before 6 PM. Orders placed later arrive the next day. For other provinces, allow a few days depending on distance. If the surprise is for a specific day, such as a birthday or Eid, order early so you are not racing the clock. For busy holidays, browse the Eid collection well in advance.
Also think about the household's day. A delivery during a family gathering can be wonderful, while one during a quiet, busy or difficult time may be less welcome.
Enjoy the moment from far away
When the gift is handed over, the courier takes a photo at the door and the recipient confirms on the courier's phone. You receive the photo by WhatsApp and email within minutes, and it stays on your order page. Many senders like to call right after the photo arrives, while the surprise is still fresh.
