Surprise Your Family With a Hot Meal: Timing a Food Delivery in Kabul
The Yar team · · 1 min read

There is something special about calling home and hearing, "Someone just brought us dinner, from you?" A hot meal is one of the most personal things you can send. It also needs a bit more planning than a gift box, because food is best eaten soon after it arrives.
Pick the right meal
- For a family dinner: a biryani order, for example from Dewa Biryani if that is their favourite
- For a big gathering, a nazr or khairat: a degh-e charga
- For something that lasts the week: a food package instead of cooked food
Get the timing right
Tell us when the family eats, not just the date. Lunch and dinner times differ from home to home, and in Ramadan the meal that matters is iftar. Order a day ahead when you can, and earlier for Thursdays, Fridays and Eid.
Keep the surprise without missing the family
A surprise only works if someone is home. Ask casually what the family is doing that evening, or let one person in on the secret. When you order, say it is a surprise: the courier will only check that someone is home, without saying what is coming or who sent it.
Make the address easy to find
Kabul addresses often rely on landmarks. Add the nearest mosque, school, shop or square, and double-check the phone number of the person receiving. A wrong digit is the most common reason a delivery is delayed.
How to order
Cooked meals like biryani and degh-e charga are arranged by message: send the details to Yar on WhatsApp from the help page, we confirm the price, you pay by Visa or Mastercard, AfPay, HesabPay or bank transfer, and the courier brings it to the door. If we cannot deliver, you get a full refund.
